Redo of Mr Bush homework of film analyses

Taken

The movie clip that i will be analysing will be the " Taken" film trailer. I find this trailer intrusting from the camera shots and angles used. The story line and genre is extremely fasinating and appeals to all audience types. The movie is basically about a daugther goes on holidays and then her father trys his best to get her back to safefy. The emotion played out within this clip shows how this movie can be passed of in the genre of drama. Also the violent acts shown within the film show that the movie has a genre of thriller aswell. This expresses that it can appeal to both types of audiences , where the males can enjoy the thriller part and the females can enjoy the drama part. This moive can appeal to an older target audience like parents , as they can relate to the parents played within the movie. This movie can also relate to teenagers in a way to protray how the real world is dangerous and how parents are always there for you in the end of the day.

The mise en scene used within the scene like the telephone can protray many things. For example, when the female is holding the telephone within intensity when her friend is being kidnapped shows how desparate the girl is and how scard she is. It also shows despaeration of the female and her being helpless and needing help. The telephone prop also shows a source of hope and help, it shows how she can be helped as her father now knows the situation of her being kidnapped and can help her .  The telephone used also shows how the father can communicate with the kidnappers and help his daughter to be safe and back to normal. There are weapons show within the movie aswell to show how the father will go to dangerous extents in order to get his daughter back regardless. It also shows the violent and thriller side to the movie and shows his desperarcy to get his daughter back.

The lighting used within the movie is mainly dim and dull. This factor shows how the trailer is showing abit of the movie and not showing the explicit effect as they dont want to give everythin away to the viewer. By giving a slow show of what will happen within the movie , it leaves the audience hungery for more and makes them eager to watch the movie and see what happens. The movie in dull lighting also shows the dangerous and mysterous kidnapping of the daughter and how violent it can be as you cant see anything and you dont know what might be happening to the kiddnapped victims.

The sound within the movie consist of diegetic and non diegetic sound. Diegetic sound is direct sound related to a scene like a conversation between the father and daughter on the telephone . However a non digetic sound is the like background music which cant be seen and is used for effect. Both of these scenes are used within the movie. The diegetic sound is used in order to show the situation of the movie and what is happening, for example over hearing the conversation between the kiddnapper and the desperate father, the diegetic sound of the  telephone ringing also gives a dahaunting effect as well. The heart beat at the back shows the thriller and the danger of the scene of the movie. It makes the audiences feel like they are in the movie as they can feel the heart beat out loud. However background music is played at the back to compliment the scenes , for example , when a violent scene is played , fast tempo music is played in order to compliment the scene and show how the scene is going fast and how dangerous it is.

The camera shots withn the film , consist of many factors. To protray the drama genre , the camera shots used are close ups to show the emotions and expressions of the characters within the movie. However fast blurred shots are used to show the violence and thriller genr of the movie. It expresses how the scens are explicit yet left unknown to the audience for suspence. There are aot of blank shots within the trailer , this effect can be like a person blinking there eyes , theses shots occur alot , however , it can also show to be the victim within the movie , te victim coud be either uncousucius and blinking her eyes alot. Yet can also be in the view of the audience and make the audience feel like they are there within the scenes.

The lighting and the colouring within the trailer is mainly dark and dim. In the beggining when the scenes are happy and lively , the colour are bright and positive. There are no dim lighing effects. However when the equalibrium is ruined , the colours of the atmosphere are soon to be destroyed and become dangerous , dark and dim. This connoates the mystery of the kidnapp and the unknown events that may be takenin place to the victims of the kidnapp. Also the dim lighting can also express the dark side of the father and the dangerous things he woul do in order to get his daugther back. The dim lighting can also show the journey of the father trying to find his daugther through this dark experinece and can also express the feelings of the father and daughter.

Ms Wigley twilight

The target audience for the movie is seen to be females and males. The age’s group would be a teenage age group. We know that this movie is aimed towards teenagers as it consists of actors whom are acting like teenagers. Also this movie shows how teenagers suffer from a love triangle, which may appeal to the audience. Firstly the media forums of language express the way the trailer is portrayed. The genre of the movie is a mixture of 2 genres. Firstly as the movie consist of a love them of a love triangle, it shows how the movie is a romantic genre which can appeal to the female target audience. However as there are 2 dominating male figures within the movie it shows violence and action in order to appeal to the ,ale target audience/ For example , in the beginning of the movie there is a romantic scene of the males and female hugging together having an intimate moment together, This shows the femine side of the movie which will appeal to females as they enjoy romantic scenes , however the scene where both males threaten to fight over the girl shows the action side of the movie which appeals to the male audience.
The Hollywood factors within this clip are the large action scene which show a lot of money must have been in invested within. The beginning of the trailer also shows Hollywood Production Company’s which show how the movie belongs from a Hollywood background. The actors aren’t British either which show the Hollywood aspects,
The trailer for the movie uses persuasive techniques like cliffhanging scenes in order to pull the audience to the film and make them wonder what happened next in the movie. By doing this it encourages the audience to go watch the movie and recommend It to their friends and family.

Year12 film essay

Twilight esclipse saga

The movie trailer i viewed was the twilight ecaslipse saga.
Firatly the media forums of language expresses the way the trailer is protrayed . The genre of the movie is a mixture of 2 genres . Firtlys as the movie consist of a love them of a love trianle , it shows how the movie is a romantic genre which can appeal to the female target aducience . However as there are 2 dominating male figures within the movie it shows violence and action in order to appeal to the ,ale target audience/ For example , in the begining ot the moive there is a romantic scene of the males and female hugging together having an intimate moment together, This shows the femine side of the movie which will appeal to females as they enjoy romantic scenes , however the scene where both males threaten to fight over the girl shows the actionnside of the movie which appeals to the male audience.

There are certain close ups and far shots in the movie trailer to express the scenes and show the genre clearly. Showing long shots of the couple being lovey and close shows the body language of the couple and express the love they have for each other. However in other scenes there are close ups of the couple laying on the bed to show the intimesy of the scene and protrays how close the couple are by having a close camera shot. There are far shots aswell in action scenes in order for the viewer to see the scene clearly. This shows how the scene is quite with the genre of action by allowing the viewer to see the scene. An example of this is the scene which shows the villain doing a dangerous jump in the woods which is quite dangerous and shows the audience a full view of this scene to show how much action consist within the film.

Lastly the music shown has mainly dialogue . The diaglogue used from the films script gives an insight of what is in store for the audience and also shows the audience what happens in the movie breifly. It gets the viewer intrusted and excited. The other piece of music which is shown in the trailer expresses a fast tempo to show the violence and drama of the movie. Soft music is played in the begining to show the romantic side of the moive , however the fast music shown protrays the love triangle within the movie and the 2 dominating males fighting for the love from the females within the movie.

London to Brighton exam

Media forms
Firstly the media languagw within the london to brighton trailer refelects the genre of the movie in any ways. The sound prrotryed in the movie shows how the genre is drama and thriller. The music is clasical and soft in the begining which goes into a fast tempo to show thee is a more violent side to the movie.
Having close ups of the chracters facial expressions is also quite an visual way to show how the genres are drama / thrille. The drama part is shown by the dramatic facial expressions of the characters crying and showing how tey are scard. However the action of the characters shows how the movie also consist of a thriller genre . For example there is a scene where both of the female characters are running and hiding from someone whic gives an intensity effect to te audience which then connotates that the movie consist of characterisitics of thriller within it.
The camera shots do show certain ways on how the movie consist of both drama and thriller. Having fast cuts and blurred scenes within the trailer or movies show how the movies has  a thriller and violent genre . The thriller scenes are shown by creating a rough and violent effect by the camera shots yet to create a feeling of drama there are exteme close ups of certain characters within th scenes. By doin this it expresses the emotions of the characters which all the emotions of the character which all tie into the genre of drama.
Lastly the sound shown inside the trailer sows the genre of the movies in uniques ways. In the begining of the movie, there is an innocent sound of music which is played which represents the innocence of the child then a wild rock and roll song burst out to express the coruption of the child . The transition of the music from soft to hard is like drama to thriller. At the end there is a gun shot which is fired out which connotates the point of the movie being a thriller . Thereis both diegetic an no diegetic sound within the trailer when the title of the movie is shown a gun shot is fired to show that the movie again is a thriller.

Media representation
Gender representation is protrayes quite strongly within the movie london to brighton. As the characters within the movie each represent their gender quite strognly. The females are shown to be weakless , whores, helpless, powerless, sex objects and victims.
In one scene , there is a male who has paid to have sex with the child. The scene s a mid-shot where the male is sen quite powerful and dominatiing walking ahead of the females whilst the females are gingery walking behind him. This shows howmales are shown to be quite dominating in the film.
Another scene shows a man loading his gun up, this shows how the man in the movie is shown quite violent. He is also yelling and shouting at the weakless females , this shows again how violent and dominating the males are shown in the movie.
The females in the movie which are prositudes are shown to be quite weakless , powerless , abused and sex objects and victims.

Media Institution
The film was a british based movie and was mainly sot in cheap areas as alot of profit wasnt invested within the movie.
Firstly the clothing of the characers is very cheap and chavy.

Camera angle analyses.

Analyses of four film stils

This image is a medium shot in order to show the full family and show each character in a clearer way. By showing each character , it shoes what the show must consist of and what type of genre it is. As it is a medium shot , it shows how the family is united together and how everyone is happy and normal. However , if the camera shot was close up on someone , it could express that there is something wrong or intrusting with that particular character.

Again a medium shot shows how all the characters are shown and gives everyones reaction and actiom. It alsos the audience to see every character and the audience can see what each character is doin a and how they contribute to the scene and how they feel emotionally in the scene.

This close up scene shows how powerful and expressive this character reaction is and shows hwo scard she is. By having a close up scene of the character it can give the audience a proper imsight of what the character is feeling and the situation they are in and how they may feel.

This picture is from the same movie , yet is shot at a different angle , it suggest how terrified the character is by looking at both her facial expression and her body expressions. You can see the intensity of her face and her body and how she is holding the phone. Having a medium shot can show the audiece the scene properly and how the enviroment around the character is like

Film Noir

Film Noir is known for its dark colours which leave viewers in myster and add intensity to movie by playing around with the lighting of a set. The term film noir (French for "black film"),first applied to Hollywood movies by French critic Nino Frank in 1946.
This image is from physco aswell, it was distintive lighting in roder to add mor intensity to the image. It keeps the killer/ physco annoymoss and keeps it identity sheild away from everyone. Also it gives a moe darker and mysterious effect to the picture , and makes it look more serious as you dont know who it is and the image is unexpected . It makes you wonder if the killer is a male or females and keeps the audience concerntrated on the movie and keeps them wanting more .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG3-GlvKPcg
Film noir movies are all about the light intensitys , in certain scenes the lighting will be bright however in other scenes the lighting will be dark and very lowkey. This showa that the lighting is all for an effect and can change the moods of a person fast . It can also be incharge of somones idensity.
For example physco the movie , uses many film noir effects. It shows the intensity of scene and how some scenes are more intense than others. In the shower scene it keeps the lighting on the killer dark so it protrays darknest and mystery.
Overall this whole scene of the physco trailer shows an extreme view of the process of the murder, it gives a bright shot on what is happening to the female who is getting killed  , however the killer is left in the dark and not shown to the viewer and gives a sense mystery aswell and leaves the viewers wanting to know more as they are left in the dark about certain scenes

Twentieth Century Fox : The simpsons

One of the movies that Twentieth Century Fox  have produced is the Simpsons. The simpson movie was advertised in many ways , firstly as it was already a developed television programme, it already has audiences and alreay has reconition in society whch makes it much easier for the movie to b advertised. Also places like mc donalds advertise the movie aswell by selling the simpson chracters as toys in a happy meal as its audience for the movie is for children , therefore by advertising simpson characters in a meal eaten by children it can also promote the movie aswell.

Social networking sites can also advertise the movie aswell as word of mouth and movie critics in society whom watch the movie and reconmend it to other people .

Also the introduction of new characters within the film is a good way to advertise the movie , it shows that the movie isnt the same as the television episodes and that it is much different. Also the quality of the movie will be better and also have a longer story line.

This scene is emphasised with terror as she is gripping the phone intensly and screaming , this scene looks dramtic and intense due to her face expression and body language , the prop of the phone shows that the chracter is searching for help. You can see the intensity in her face and actions which shows shes desperate and hurt.

Film Poster

White Chicks

This film poster is for teenagers whom are aged between 13 - 25 aged. We know this due to te language used in the film title, "Chicks" is the terminlogy for girls , and youngsters usually use this laguage.  The colours of the film poster are extremely colourful and appealing to the teenagers as it instantly attracts the viewers due to the bright colours.
The Mise en sense shows that the genre of the film is comedy , as there are two males dressed in female clothes and wigs , however show the seriousness of the film with the FBI IDs. This chracters are shown to be males from the inside however have a masculine outside, we know this due to the look of the females/males on the cover , the chracters both have guns on them and have a masculine pose on the outside, whilst being feminine on the outside aswell. The shot is a medium shot in ther to show you the proper outlook of the scene , with two females and a police car at the back , also it shows that the location of the film is set in america with a new york city landscape at the back.

Scary Movies 2

This movie is a spoof movie of all the other horror movies  , this movie film poster shows that it is in the genre of comedy as it shows that in one of the characters head popcorn is coming out . This shows that it is also for an audience of teenagers aswell as the humour level of this movie seems quite immature and doesnt seem on the commedy levels of grown adult . The characters are of mixed ethnic groups which can show that this movie can relate to any audience that may watch this movie. Th mise en sense of this movie is again shown by the characters props of clothing , it show that this movie is a comedy movie , as one character is wearing a t-shirt spoofing one movie , there is a spoof of the exocist aswell . This lighting of the movie is dark and is set in a cinema to attract the audience , it shows the characters in a cinema like the audience themselfs , being scard of the movie , it also encourages the audience to watch the movie , if the characters in the poster are scard , the audience will be too if they watch it. Ms Wigley Cover work 1/11/2010

1) . Media texts are profit motivated. Consider this in the light of TV news. What issues does this raise?

As television programmes and channels are put on air for mainly two purposes , entertainment and profit. By entertaining a viewer it can result into the viewer watching more televsion and their channel which increases the programme or channels rating and can overal give more profit . Also if a programme is viewed alot , it would be bought by the broadcasting channel which will also give out profit aswell , however, if a programme isnt doing as well as it should be , the programme wouldnt be bought and the motivation of profit would become a failure.

2) Which media companies do you think could be accused of having too much power and control in our society?

photographers are shown to have power and control in society , paparazii , are the main media companies which influences the decisions and chooses of people in soicety today. The paparazzi can influence the way a person can think and look and can instantly manipulate a persons mind by labeling a text in a certain way or taking a photograph of a person or object and change the captions and turn the image in to a sensationalist headline or story.

Mr Bush media trip notes

- Firstly media was taken as a "Mickey Mouse" subject , as it was seen non academic and not really a subject that can take you far in life.
- The subject was also seen as a soft subject aswell .
- However media outlooks are changing fast and the opinions of people are changing of media , and many students all over the country are taken it up as a subject
- When doing your coursework , make sure you take you time and organise your work correctly so that you have a time to edit and shoot your video
- Make sure your video makes sense and isnt just a clip , make it have purpose and a genre .
- Make sure you magazine looks effiecent and has the correct amount of pictures/text and that it looks life like
- How media is changing and how media is taking over on computers and television , how newspaper curculation has declinced and how people mainly go online to read newspapers ad reviwew gossip and information

dominant advert Jaime oliver

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSnwhlFLNFI&feature=related

This advert is quick and shows Jaime Oliver a male cooking. This is werid for a male to do as its not a norm or a value for males to do in society. It would normally be the female doing this job role of cooking , but its Jaime oliver doing it instead. Also this advert would be aimed towards females though as females are the ones who mainly go shopping and cook for the family.
Therefore this advert is strangly structed out as the advert is oringnally aimed towards females yet have a male doing it , the advert could also pass of for being for a man aswell . It shows a alternaltive point of males in society today .

Lynx Advert

The links advert basically shows a male applying the product on himself , and then gets all the females after him in the advert. The females are mainly protrayed as chasing the male in the advert and also following the dominat figure. This advert shows males that if they buy the links product they will have females chasing them , just like the advert. It is quiet biast and unrelistic.

The dominant factor within this advert is that the females are chasing the male around , rather than the usually norm of males following the females.
This advert would be targeted to teenage and young adult males as this product is specially for males and made for males aswell.

It also shows middle classesd working females within the advert which goes against the norm of females not ebing able to work and how their place is only in the kitchin and at home with their children and husband.
This advertvert is also dominat as the female is later shown as a sex symbol later on in the advert.

reebok advert cover lesson

This advert portray violence in the ways of language that is used. As the narrator ask 50cent who he will massacre next it shows sources of violence of 50cent killing people of.
Also in the video it shows the number of times 50 cent got shoot. This is a good example to use for the advert as it shows that 50cent has been put down many times in his life, nearly killed but still has made it to the top. It shows that 50cents competitors may of been jealous and tried to put him down but couldn’t as he came back up again. This is a good source of similes as it shows a similar way that Reeboks background history is. As Reebok has competitors and has lost customers and money but still will come back on the top again.

The target audience for Reebok is teenagers as it shows 50cent whom appeals to the teenage market, also as Reebok is a sportswear and manly young people buy Reebok for sports or a fashion statement. The teenager target audience may not be affected by the advert but the older consumers in the adult range would be as it shows explicit sources of violence.

The advert shouldn’t be banned by of stead as it’s not really sexually explicit and doesn’t really have explicitly of violence either. The content used for the video like the narrator is quite normal and doesn’t use swear words within the clip. Therefore the video should stay on and shouldn’t really be taken of due to the history of 50cent. The violence portrayed isn’t made up for entertainment purposes but actually the real life of a human. Therefore it isn’t as explicit as it seems and shouldn’t be put off the broadcasting range because of the life of someone has violence within it.
The video doe has violence within it yet gives a positive representations towards people who have been put down in the past and encourages them to try again as they will like 50cent get back up again.

ofstead commecial ban

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZGsrvvH9SA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ZGsrvvH9SA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

This advert is probably banned due to the explicitness of its video and its sexual content. Also children could be viewing this advert and the advert could appeal to them as they could be short sighted and seeing this advert only appeal to adults only. I think the ad should be banned as it is way to explicit for televison and also not a good way to protray a company with serious health issues like eyesight. Eyesight is a important thing in peoples lifes and having adverts which are joked about makes a person think that this company may not be serious about my eyesight and take my health as a joke.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sRcNDv2wTKM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sRcNDv2wTKM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

This advert is funny yet isnt suitable for day time television and should be shown at the watershed period of after a certain time. The advert also consist of some sexual content showing a nude male and also females wearing low cut tops which may be to explicit to be shown at day time. However i think that this advert shoudnt be banned and should be shown during a late night period as the product , the shower gel, is appealed at grown males and the advert is for a grown up man.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wAP2yVsgI6c?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wAP2yVsgI6c?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

This advert doesint show anything explicit but disrespect other products . Having the coca cola product only bought for the purpose of reaching pepsi shows that the coca cola drink has no value and degrades the drink. I think that this advert should be banned as it disrespect another product and gives bad morals towards the other company.

Media Awards Homework ( Mr Bush )

There two movies which i select for analyses are "Sin" and "The essex fairytale".

Sin is basically about a girl who likes a guy but he is in love with another girl so she plans to get him killed. the Trailor consist of fade in effect within the production and close ups. The film first starts of with equilibruim and then is moved in to a disequilibrium genre.  The movie had a good source of props and dialogue . There where different fades of lighting and extreme close ups aswell which consisted within the film. The film seemed targeted toward the teenage audience. This trailor was a chiller and romance genre. This production was good as it was different and unusual and not common in the market at the moment. It wasnt male dominative and showed that a female was in control of the film rather than the male.

The essexs fairytale is a production which is basically about drug dealing how how their is conflict within the drug dealing society and how dangerous it is. It shows how the drug dealer father is torn between his daughter and spouse and the drug dealing. Some parts of the trailer go in to extreme close ups and others go far. Certain parts are in black and white to give an mysteriuous effect. There is also a narrator in the trailor aswell to explain what is happening throughout the movie. This trailor was like a drama genre which consisted of some violence aswell.

Movie analyses ( Mr Bush)

The movie i will be analysing will be Prom Night is a film with a chiller genre. This movie firstly consist of enigma codes by limiting how much the audience knows and has a non linear pattern in the begginign of the movie  where it shows how the female is suffering by her obessed teacher. The movie first starts of in disequilibruim where a obessed teacher is after his student and doesnt want to leave her alone , he results in killing her parents just to be with her but in the end gets arrested . The movie shows that the girl is still suffering in stress that the teacher will eventually come to her and ruin her equilibruin that exist currently.
