Film Noir

Film Noir is known for its dark colours which leave viewers in myster and add intensity to movie by playing around with the lighting of a set. The term film noir (French for "black film"),first applied to Hollywood movies by French critic Nino Frank in 1946.
This image is from physco aswell, it was distintive lighting in roder to add mor intensity to the image. It keeps the killer/ physco annoymoss and keeps it identity sheild away from everyone. Also it gives a moe darker and mysterious effect to the picture , and makes it look more serious as you dont know who it is and the image is unexpected . It makes you wonder if the killer is a male or females and keeps the audience concerntrated on the movie and keeps them wanting more .

Film noir movies are all about the light intensitys , in certain scenes the lighting will be bright however in other scenes the lighting will be dark and very lowkey. This showa that the lighting is all for an effect and can change the moods of a person fast . It can also be incharge of somones idensity.
For example physco the movie , uses many film noir effects. It shows the intensity of scene and how some scenes are more intense than others. In the shower scene it keeps the lighting on the killer dark so it protrays darknest and mystery.
Overall this whole scene of the physco trailer shows an extreme view of the process of the murder, it gives a bright shot on what is happening to the female who is getting killed  , however the killer is left in the dark and not shown to the viewer and gives a sense mystery aswell and leaves the viewers wanting to know more as they are left in the dark about certain scenes
